About Marcy J.S. Johnson, LCSW (she, her)

Hi there! Welcome to Heart Tree Counseling. I offer online therapy to people facing addiction and in long-term addiction recovery. I also work with a wide range of mental health concerns and life challenges. All you need for Teletherapy is an internet-connected smartphone, desktop computer or tablet equipped with a camera and a microphone! The video conferencing software is easy to use. It’s also HIPAA-compliant, meaning your private health information is always protected.

My approach to therapy is one of collaboration and exploration. You are the expert on you. Although you may be facing a difficult time in life, you have the wisdom within that is necessary to change your situation. My job is to help you uncover and access this wisdom so that you can move forward with greater clarity.

The treatment methods I use include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Gestalt, and Existential Therapy. Using these methods and others, I can help you see your situation in new and helpful ways. Together, we can begin to shift your experience from one that may feel like anxious uncertainty or hopelessness, to one of calm curiosity about what the future holds and the resolve to move through the situation with a new sense of confidence.

I hold an Advanced Generalist Master of Social Work degree from Colorado State University. In Colorado, I was a Certified Addiction Counselor III—the highest level possible. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Pennsylvania and a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in Massachusetts. My professional experience includes counseling teens, adults, and persons over the age of 65, in one-on-one and group settings.

A personal strength is that I easily form genuine and supportive connections with people. Having the right therapist, one you “click” with, makes all the difference. By offering a safe and non-judgmental space that welcomes all, I enable people to get to the root of their concerns so they can begin the change process.

The most trying times in life are also the times when we grow and stretch the most. We get opportunities to learn from our own life experiences and can use these opportunities to our benefit—if we are paying attention. At Heart Tree Counseling, I can help you uncover, recognize and use the valuable insights that life is presenting to you.

Sustainable addiction recovery or growth in other areas of life, occurring at the deepest levels of being, does happen for those who seek it. This freeing and uplifting process is here for the taking. Give yourself this precious gift. Let’s embark on this important journey together, today.
